How to Really Set an Intention

Most likely everyone has heard that intention is everything and the importance of setting a clear intention. But how do you actually set an intention?

“Only when you release your intentions into the fertile depths of your consciousness can they grow and flourish.” – Deepak Chopra

A Clear Intention

Intention is when you’re absolutely clear about what you want to create in life. It’s how you experience every moment.

However, some people confuse an intention with a goal. Goal setting is something you do for a manifesting. An intention is more about your purpose for doing something.

Intention1. what one intends to do or bring about. 2. a determination to act a certain way. ~ Merriam Webster

Intend to bring yourself into alignment with your desired outcome.

One of the main reasons we can’t manifest is because we’re out of alignment with what we want. We need to be on the same high vibration level to move towards it.

So, how do you do that? Consciously set your mindset to feel a certain way while you shift into alignment.

For example – I want to manifest a new job. Every morning I set a clear intention to be motivated and excited about job searching. This raises my vibration and brings me into alignment with opportunities.

I intend to find a new job” is too vague. “I intend to feel excited about how it will feel to find my dream job” keeps you focused and reminds you why you’re taking the steps.

Intentions Should Be

  • true to you
  • positive

How to Set an Intention

First and foremost, clear your energy and raise your vibration. There are a number of ways you can do this.

Keep in mind that all of the above can be a quick way to get grounded and centered. This will prepare you to set a clear intention with a positive tone.

Nothing has to be a ceremonial ritual. Quickly cleanse the room with a smoke bath by smudging or incense. Light candles or use oils to set the ambience.

Get focused with meditation, yoga, or taking a walk. Alternatively, get grounded in the shower or speak to your healing crystals.

Do whatever it is that you feel comfortable doing that will clear your mind and put you in a positive mood. Take as little or as long as you need.

Setting an intention from a high vibrational state is more powerful. This is because you’re positive and like attracts like.

Finally, release your intention out into the universe.

Speaking Your Intention

Essentially, how you release your intention is up to you.

You can simply think it, say it out loud, or write it down.

Inscribe your intention into a candle and burn it. Program crystals with your intention and make a crystal grid or carry them on your person.

Whichever way you feel comfortable doing it is the right way!

Journaling

My favorite way to set an intention is by writing it down. Actually, I consider journaling much more than just writing it down.

For me, journaling is a way to communicate with the universe on a soul level.

Firstly, when you’re writing something down its silent and private. There’s no need to be embarrassed or hold back your absolute true thoughts and feelings.

This allows you to really dig deep and acknowledge your shadow side and release shameful thoughts. It’s very therapeutic.

I keep so many different journals for different areas of my life.

Take Action

Now that you clearly set an intention and released it into the universe, it’s time to take action.

Obviously, taking action is going to look different for everyone. It depends on what your intention is.

Example – If your goal is to lose 15 pounds in a month, set an intention to diet and exercise. Now, take action by consciously making time for a daily walk.

Even a small action feels good and will keep you motivated. This shows the universe you’re putting in the work for what you want.
