Smudging & Why You Should Do It

Smudging is a symbolic exercise shared for centuries by Native Americans and feng shui practitioners. This post is all about smudging and why you should do it.

What is Smudging?

Burning sacred sage, herbs, incense, or palo santo to cleanse yourself, your space energetically, or objects is smudging.

This ritual is rooted in Indigenous cultures and is believed to cleanse and purify a person, space, or object of negative energy. It is often used as a spiritual purification practice, healing, and prayer.

It’s commonly performed by wafting the smoke over the body or around a room while setting intentions or reciting prayers. Try approaching the practice with respect and understanding because of its cultural significance.

When to Smudge

You can give anything a smoke bath at any time for different purposes. Here are some situations when you could smudge:

  • before energy work
  • for spiritual blessings
  • before a spell
  • to cleanse an object
  • after an illness
  • after a negative event
  • when you feel emotionally or spiritually drained
  • to change the mood in the room

Smudging is personal, so you can choose when it feels right.

Where to get a Smudge Stick

Sage smudging has long been used to connect to the spiritual realm and to enhance intuition. Burning sage is used to clear low vibes and solve spiritual dilemmas.

Sage is multi-purpose. For example, use it to cleanse, purify, and protect your home against negative energy.

Also, Palo Santo can protect and heal, plus more.

You can also use incense to give everything a good smoke bath cleansing.

How to Smudge

First, choose your smudge stick or incense and a heatproof dish. A natural abalone shell is often used in smudging rituals.

As always, set your intention. Consider what to purify and the energy to cleanse.

Create a pathway for the energy to move around. Open a window or door to allow any stagnant energy to flow out.

Start by lighting your smudge stick. Allow it to burn briefly, then blow out the flame.

If needed, gently blow the flame to make it stronger. Always hold the stick over a fireproof container to catch the hot ashes falling.

Now, waft the smoke around while going from room to room. Pay attention to areas that feel heavy or stagnant.

When finished, tap the smudge stick against a heat-resistant dish to extinguish the remaining embers. Be sure to extinguish the flame every time.

You can also use Palo Santo to smudge. Get creative and burn symbols or words on it with a wood burner first.

Remember, smudging is a personal practice. Trust your instincts and adopt a ritual to suit your preferences.

Why You Should Smudge

Embrace the benefits of a cleanse to support body system balance.

Life hurts energetically. Unknowingly, every interaction is an energy exchange with others. This means whatever is in their aura can get caught in yours.

This ancient healing tradition will purify your living space. Clear out negative vibrations, your bodily energy, or the energy of others.

Using smudging tools can improve well-being and increase vitality.

A healthy lifestyle will assist you in adjusting to your unique divine vibration. Your life purpose will be easier to align with.

Set the environment with aesthetics or create a sacred space. This can be anywhere you meditate, connect with your higher self, or do magic.

Set the intention to connect to the collective consciousness and expand your spiritual awareness.

Shifting Vibrations teaches you what the elites, today’s billionaires, and the ancient Egyptians know about manifesting abundance that you don’t.

What is an Altar?

a witch's altar with text overlay - what's an altar?

A witch’s altar serves as a sacred space for her practice. However, you don’t need to be involved in witchcraft to create one. But, what is an altar?

*This post may contain Amazon and other affiliate links. You can read the full disclosure here if needed.*

Tools of the Trade

A spiritual altar can serve multiple purposes for different types of energy work.

Think of it as a central symbol in witchcraft; it embodies the core of the practice.

However, you don’t need anything fancy to make one. A raised platform is fine.

On a witch’s altar, you’ll find items that symbolize the four elements: crystals, candles, sage, and water.

Additionally, this is where the correspondence for spells is going. These can be anything that means something to you and your craft.

It’s the place for energy, intention, and a connection to the divine. The arrangement and function of yours can differ significantly from mine.

It’s all based on the witch’s tradition, individual preferences, and spiritual journey.

Common Elements

different salts with a white candle in the middle and fresh sage.

An altar cloth is a fabric that may reflect the season, a specific intention, or an aesthetic.

Candles represent fire and illumination and are often used to set intentions or honor deities. This is also where you’ll light your spell candles.

Crystals can be used for their energetic properties to amplify intentions or balance energies.

You’ll also find some tools on an altar:

  • athame – a ceremonial blade for directing energy
  • chalice – represents water and the divine feminine
  • wand – for directing energy
  • cauldron – symbolizes transformation and the elements of water and fire

Where to get an Altar

First, it’s important to understand that you don’t have to have an extravagant space. Your altar can be a literal shelf.

Since an altar is usually just a raised platform, you can use a table, a tray, or a stool.

Alternatively, you can buy one or build one yourself.

Are Witches Real?

a black table with a journal and a candle with text overlay that says, Are Witches Real?

Witchcraft and witches have long been topics of folklore, myth, and historical narratives. Various beliefs and practices about witchcraft have emerged across diverse cultures and eras. While we believe in witches’ reality and magical abilities, others dismiss them as mere superstition or fiction. So, are witches real?

It’s important to recognize that witchcraft and witches are misinterpreted in mainstream culture.

Witchcraft is Fascinating

Witches have always been intriguing and their allure remains strong even today.

In contemporary society, the idea of a witch has transformed from the classic depiction of a warty old woman brewing potions. Nowadays, witches are frequently linked to feminism, spirituality, and the celebration of their inner strength.

Modern-day witches engage in various witchcraft practices, including Wicca and neopaganism. These practitioners frequently establish a connection with nature, channel the energy of the elements, and conduct rituals to achieve their intentions.

Additionally, many delve into divination like tarot reading or pendulums to gain deeper insights into their lives.

Witchcraft has become a way to reclaim autonomy and challenge societal norms. Modern witches embrace individuality, self-care, and personal growth.

While some still adhere to ancient traditions, others create unique practices, drawing inspiration from diverse cultural and spiritual sources.

So, whether you’re drawn to the mystical or simply curious about the modern witch, exploring the world of witchcraft can be a fascinating journey of self-discovery and empowerment.

Magic is Spiritual

For many, being a witch is not just about casting spells or brewing potions, but about embracing a holistic lifestyle that promotes mindfulness, self-discovery, and connection with the world around them.

Spiritual witchcraft is a practice that combines elements of spirituality and witchcraft. It involves connecting with the divine and harnessing natural energies to manifest positive change in one’s life.

In spiritual witchcraft, practitioners often work with various tools and rituals to enhance their spiritual connection and manifest their desires. These tools can include crystals, herbs, candles, and divination tools such as tarot cards or pendulums.

Spiritual witchcraft focuses on personal growth, self-discovery, and spiritual enlightenment. It emphasizes the importance of connecting with one’s intuition and inner wisdom to guide one’s path.

Many spiritual witches also strongly emphasize healing, both for themselves and others. They may incorporate energy healing techniques, such as Reiki, into their practice to promote physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being.

Are Witches Real?

Yes!

Witches can be viewed as symbolic archetypes that embody intuition, defiance of societal norms, and mastery over concealed knowledge. Individuals may resonate with the “witch” archetype to foster personal empowerment, wisdom, or independence.

How Do Crystals Work?

A woman's face holding a glowing quartz crystal to her head. Text overlay - How do healing crystals work?

Crystals develop over millions of years under significant geological pressure, leading to intricately structured lattices. Consequently, these formations provide crystals with distinct physical properties. But how do healing crystals actually work?

*This post may contain Amazon or other affiliate links. If you need to read the full disclosure, go here.*

If crystals can influence physical systems in scientific applications, it’s plausible that they affect biological or energetic systems, even if the mechanism isn’t fully understood.

History of Healing Crystals

Firstly, healing crystals have been used in spiritual and medicinal practices for thousands of years.

Ancient Egyptians adorned themselves with lapis lazuli and turquoise to promote protection and well-being.

Similarly, Ayurvedic and Chinese medicine utilize gemstones to harmonize energies. Across the globe, indigenous cultures have incorporated stones and crystals into their rituals.

History shows us various cultures use crystals for their healing properties. They integrate them into practices like meditation and mindfulness, for enhancing focus and intention.

The lasting presence and broad acceptance suggest a collective acknowledgement of the tangible effects of crystals.

How to use Healing Crystals

By all means, crystals are tangible symbols of intentions, like healing, love, or calmness.

Holding or wearing a crystal can:

  • anchor mindfulness practices
  • hold symbolism
  • are physical reminders
  • is a tool for grounding
  • protect you during energy work

All crystals feel like nature’s gifts but there’s one crystal worth giving a shout out to ~ selenite.

Selenite remains in high vibe all the time. It cleanses other crystals and is self-cleansing!

Put selenite in your space and it will wash away any stagnant energy. Selenite creates a positive atmosphere for your healing or practice spaces.

If your other crystals are arranged nearby, they’ll soak in selenite’s cleansing vibrations.

Crystals & the Human Body

Did you know our bodies are similar to quartz? Every cell in your body has a geometric crystalline structure!

A vibrational property of quartz called piezoelectricity is found in the human body. So, even we can discharge electric pulses and interact with an energy field.

When compressed, quartz crystals generate an electrical charge. This property is used in watches and electronic devices, because they can withstand high temperatures and conduct energy.

Quartz can convert mechanical energy into electricity with force. It’s used in timekeeping, broadcasting, computer engineering, and sound healing.

Millions claim to experience genuine benefits from using crystals. Although personal anecdotes are not scientific evidence, similar experiences cannot be disregarded.

How do Crystals Work?

Crystals function by directing positive energy into the body while eliminating negative energy. This process resembles other alternative therapies that balance energy levels.

Essentially, each crystal has a distinct vibrational frequency, influenced by its molecular structure. These vibrations engage with the body’s energy field, or chakras, giving physical, mental, and emotional wellness.

Truly, just like electromagnetic waves and quantum mechanics seemed mysterious before their discovery, some think crystals’ effects could stem from phenomena we don’t fully understand.

Maybe someday quantum entanglement or vibrational theories could explain how energy and intention interact with crystals.

Healing Crystals Work!

Although science can’t validate that crystals possess inherent healing abilities, their physical characteristics, cultural importance, psychological effects, and interactions with energy fields create a strong argument.

However, even skeptics acknowledge that if crystals inspire well-being and positive change, their impact is undeniably real to those who experience it.

How to Really Set an Intention

Lotus flower and a girl in a yoga pose. White overlay - How to really set an intention.

Most likely everyone has heard that intention is everything and the importance of setting a clear intention. But how do you actually set an intention?

*This post contains Amazon and other affiliate links. If guided, read the disclosure.*

“Only when you release your intentions into the fertile depths of your consciousness can they grow and flourish.” – Deepak Chopra

A Clear Intention

Intention is when you’re absolutely clear about what you want to create in life. It’s how you experience every moment.

However, some people confuse an intention with a goal. Goal setting is something you do for a manifesting. An intention is more about your purpose for doing something.

Intention – 1. what one intends to do or bring about. 2. a determination to act a certain way. ~ Merriam Webster

Intend to bring yourself into alignment with your desired outcome.

One of the main reasons we can’t manifest is because we’re out of alignment with what we want. We need to be on the same high vibration level to move towards it.

So, how do you do that? Consciously set your mindset to feel a certain way while you shift into alignment.

For example – I want to manifest a new job. Every morning I set a clear intention to be motivated and excited about job searching. This raises my vibration and brings me into alignment with opportunities.

“I intend to find a new job” is too vague. “I intend to feel excited about how it will feel to find my dream job” keeps you focused and reminds you why you’re taking the steps.

Intentions Should Be

  • for the highest good of all
  • true to you
  • positive
  • short

How to Set an Intention

First and foremost, clear your energy and raise your vibration. There are a number of ways you can do this.

Keep in mind that all of the above can be a quick way to get grounded and centered. This will prepare you to set a clear intention with a positive tone.

Nothing has to be a ceremonial ritual. Quickly cleanse the room with a smoke bath by smudging or incense. Light candles or use oils to set the ambience.

Get focused with meditation, yoga, or taking a walk. Alternatively, get grounded in the shower or speak to your healing crystals.

Do whatever it is that you feel comfortable doing that will clear your mind and put you in a positive mood. Take as little or as long as you need.

Setting an intention from a high vibrational state is more powerful. This is because you’re positive and like attracts like.

Finally, release your intention out into the universe.

Speaking Your Intention

Essentially, how you release your intention is up to you.

You can simply think it, say it out loud, or write it down.

Inscribe your intention into a candle and burn it. Program crystals with your intention and make a crystal grid or carry them on your person.

Whichever way you feel comfortable doing it is the right way!

Journaling

My favorite way to set an intention is by writing it down. Actually, I consider journaling much more than just writing it down.

For me, journaling is a way to communicate with the universe on a soul level.

Firstly, when you’re writing something down its silent and private. There’s no need to be embarrassed or hold back your absolute true thoughts and feelings.

This allows you to really dig deep and acknowledge your shadow side and release shameful thoughts. It’s very therapeutic.

I keep so many different journals for different areas of my life.

Take Action

Now that you clearly set an intention and released it into the universe, it’s time to take action.

Obviously, taking action is going to look different for everyone. It depends on what your intention is.

Example – If your goal is to lose 15 pounds in a month, set an intention to diet and exercise. Now, take action by consciously making time for a daily walk.

Even a small action feels good and will keep you motivated. This shows the universe you’re putting in the work for what you want.

How do you set intentions? Tell me in the comments below!

High Vibrations!

Vitamin D The God Vitamin

The sun shining through clouds with a black over text - Vitamin D, The God Vitamin

There wouldn’t be life on earth without the electromagnetic radiation of the sun. Our sun supplies the life-giving heat and light necessary to sustain life. But are there other benefits from the sun that go beyond vitamin D?

*This post may contain Amazon and other affiliate links. If guided, read the disclosure.*

The Sun’s Reputation

People labored outside in the sun all day up until the 1900’s. They went without sunscreen not knowing that the sun’s rays can be harmful.

Since pollution has gradually damaged the ozone layer it’s not as thick as it used to be. This allows ultraviolet radiation from the sun to reach the earth.

Since we discovered the harmful side effects from the sun’s rays that’s all we emphasize. We try to protect ourselves so much that we forgot the many benefits derived from sun exposure.

Remember that the sun’s rays are safe and beneficial during morning hours until 10 am and after 3 pm. A light sun bath at least 15 minutes a day a few times a week are sufficient.

Also, the rays aren’t as strong in the winter so exposure can be longer.

Vitamin D is called the Sunshine Vitamin

When skin is exposed to sunlight, it makes vitamin D from cholesterol. The UVB rays provide the energy for vitamin D synthesis to occur.

That’s the reason vitamin D is called the sunshine vitamin.

Vitamin D is essential for optimal health and plays many roles in the body.

Aside from tanned skin, the most common benefit people seek from the sun is vitamin D. However, there are more reasons to sunbathe.

More Reasons to Sunbathe

When the sun hits your skin, you increase serotonin. Serotonin influences your mood. This is why when you’re in the sun you feel good.

It’s good for all around mental health.

It decreases melatonin. Darkness stimulates melatonin to help you sleep. So, the sun wakes you up.

The sun supports the immune system and is great for wound healing.

Vitamin D, the God Vitamin

It’s true that the sun conveys its life-giving force through its rays. That’s why in ancient times the sun was considered to be God and given the name Ra.

However, there’s something we don’t see, and most aren’t aware of.

There is a central sun above and beyond our visible sun. It’s of a much higher dimensional frequency, and therefore, it’s not visible via any means available to humans at this time.

This sun is the home of the God parents of our solar system. These great spheres of God light are cool, comfortable, and more glorious than we could imagine.

Its where all the magnificent facets where the creator resides. It’s their duty to radiate the primal life force substance and the full spectrum Metatronic light out into all the solar systems and planets wherein.

The Sun Supplies more than We’re Aware

Some of us can have even greater benefits from the sun.

Those of us that are firmly on the path of ascension are capable of drawing particles of creator light towards us. We can anchor and sharing this light with the world.

We’re now able to absorb more powerful essence from the sun’s rays. This is called the full spectrum Metatronic Light.

We are synching up with what’s altered in us. We’re starting to come into a more refined uplifted field.

So, go bathe in the God vitamin that’s healing, transformational, and enlightening!

Love & Blessings!
