Using Magic Potions

potion bottles on a counter. Text overlay - Magical Potions

Magic potions sound like something a child would make, but they are quite real. It’s not just witches and spiritual practitioners using magic potions these days, either. Regular people are mixing these concoctions even if they don’t know it.

What is a Magic Potion?

Undeniably, we all learned about a potion through some sort of magical scenario. Most likely a fable. My favorite childhood memory of a potion was the movie Death Becomes Her.

However, magic potions are real-life aesthetics that we love to make and use!

Potions are liquid spells. They are a fun and creative way to enhance our spiritual and magical experiences.

Surprisingly, these hot commodities are growing more popular every day. You don’t have to be a witch or a magic practitioner to make and use a potion.

Could we mimic the potion Goldie Hawn and Meryl Streep took in the above-named movie? Not about the part where they live forever. But, yes, about the part about staying young.

A magic potion could be the healthy concoction you blend up every morning. Depending on your intention, even a smoothie could be magical!

Using Your Magic Potion

You can drink them, diffuse them into the air, put them in a bath, or anoint your tools with them.

Sometimes, just making the potion casts the spell. Or, pouring the potion out at a particular place is the spell.

Maybe you’re making a potion as part of a ritual ceremony.

Depending on your potion, you might need to activate it or charge it with the moon or the sun.

Always stir with intention or visualize the outcome. Say your incantation or affirmations so you can channel your energy into it.

Different Types of Magic Potions

Not all potions are made and used in ritual spells. As I said above, your potion can be an everyday drink like a smoothie. Simply charge a drink with the intention of good health or whatever you want.

Try this: When stirring your morning coffee, start counterclockwise to banish any lingering energies trying to attach themselves. Thanks for yesterday’s lessons.
Stir clockwise to bring new, abundant energies to the new day. Seal it with a symbol like a pentacle.

The same tip applies to a cup of tea. Matter of fact, there is an endless number of magical tea blends to try.

For non-drinking potions, you can put them into an oil diffuser using a cleansing or banishing spell. Or add to your spiritual cleansing bath.

Approach potion-making with responsibility and a deep understanding of the ingredients and their effects. Always prioritize safety.

How to Make a Potion

Pick any liquid for the base for your potion and have fun experimenting with your recipe.

  • water
  • tea
  • coffee
  • juice
  • alcohol

There is an endless number of ways to make a potion and even more things to add to it. Consider the mystical property of everything you add.

  • herbs
  • crystals
  • ashes
  • oils

Choose herbs and crystals that correspond to your intention. For example, use basil for a money potion and rose quartz for love.

Potion Safety

Please be aware of the potential risks associated with the ingredients used in a potion!

Be sure to research the ingredients of your potion and know everything you’re ingesting.

It’s crucial to know the properties, side effects, and allergies you could have to every ingredient. Do your research on all herbs, crystals, oils, and all other substances.

Purity and quality should be known!

Some healing crystals can be toxic when wet. Not all essential oils can be ingested, and some have to be diluted when used on the skin.

Certain oils can be used internally if up to date with current regulatory guidelines. Check the brand of essential oils that are safe for ingestion when following the label directions.

Properly label your potions. Some ingredients may require refrigeration or be stored away from sunlight. Be mindful of the shelf life of the ingredients.

What is an Altar?

a witch's altar with text overlay - what's an altar?

A witch’s altar serves as a sacred space for her practice. However, you don’t need to be involved in witchcraft to create one. But, what is an altar?

*This post may contain Amazon and other affiliate links. You can read the full disclosure here if needed.*

Tools of the Trade

A spiritual altar can serve multiple purposes for different types of energy work.

Think of it as a central symbol in witchcraft; it embodies the core of the practice.

However, you don’t need anything fancy to make one. A raised platform is fine.

On a witch’s altar, you’ll find items that symbolize the four elements: crystals, candles, sage, and water.

Additionally, this is where the correspondence for spells is going. These can be anything that means something to you and your craft.

It’s the place for energy, intention, and a connection to the divine. The arrangement and function of yours can differ significantly from mine.

It’s all based on the witch’s tradition, individual preferences, and spiritual journey.

Common Elements

different salts with a white candle in the middle and fresh sage.

An altar cloth is a fabric that may reflect the season, a specific intention, or an aesthetic.

Candles represent fire and illumination and are often used to set intentions or honor deities. This is also where you’ll light your spell candles.

Crystals can be used for their energetic properties to amplify intentions or balance energies.

You’ll also find some tools on an altar:

  • athame – a ceremonial blade for directing energy
  • chalice – represents water and the divine feminine
  • wand – for directing energy
  • cauldron – symbolizes transformation and the elements of water and fire

Where to get an Altar

First, it’s important to understand that you don’t have to have an extravagant space. Your altar can be a literal shelf.

Since an altar is usually just a raised platform, you can use a table, a tray, or a stool.

Alternatively, you can buy one or build one yourself.

How to use a Crystal Ball

A woman with a third eye drawn on her forehead, has her hands about to grab a glowing crystal ball. Text overlay - how to use a crystal ball.

Crystal balls have long been associated with fortune-telling practices. It’s a tool used for divination. They enhance your intuition so you can tap into your subconscious. If you believe in their mystical powers, this post will tell you how to use a crystal ball.

*This post may contain Amazon and other affiliate links. Read the full disclosure here.*

Crystal balls are used by people who practice divination and fortune-telling. This includes psychics, clairvoyants, and mediums.

To be honest, anyone interested in magic or metaphysics uses them for meditation, or as decorative in their homes.

The use of crystal balls differs amongst cultures and belief systems, so the specific individuals who employ them also vary.

Where did Crystal Balls start?

Crystal balls have a long and fascinating history, with their use spanning cultures and centuries.

The first documented use of crystal balls can be traced back to the Druids, the Celtic priests of ancient Britain. They utilized polished crystals, frequently quartz, for divination and to seek insight from the spiritual realm.

Mesopotamia and Egypt linked crystal spheres to celestial bodies and used them in rituals to connect with the divine.

The Greeks and Romans adopted and refined scrying. This is when you look into a reflective surface to gain insight into the future. They used water, mirrors, and polished stones.

In the Middle Ages, they became associated with fortune-telling in medieval Europe. Mystics and seers used them to communicate with higher powers.

The Renaissance revived interest in occult practices and mystical tools, including crystal balls. Scholars like John Dee, advisor to Queen Elizabeth I, famously used a “shew-stone” (a polished obsidian mirror) for scrying.

The 19th-century spiritualism movement experienced a revival in the use of crystal balls. These orbs became emblematic of fortune-telling and clairvoyance, frequently linked to Romani mystics.

Eventually, crystal balls made their way to stage performances, literature, and films. This establishes their connection with mysticism and magic

So, how do you use one?

Since divination and meditation require patience and focus, here are some helpful tips:

  • create a calm and serene environment where you can concentrate
  • give your space and the crystal ball a smoke bath with sage, Palo Santo, or incense to remove energetic residue
  • set your intention for the crystal ball
  • take a few deep breaths to center yourself and quiet your mind
  • visualize a protective shield of energy surrounding you while you connect your grounding cord to the center of the earth
  • gaze into the crystal ball into its dept

Be open to any impressions, feelings, or images you may see. Allow your intuition to explore what appears.

Remember, the experience is deeply personal, and interpretations will vary. You must trust yourself in this situation.

Where to get a Crystal Ball

You can find a crystal ball in many places.

Are Witches Real?

a black table with a journal and a candle with text overlay that says, Are Witches Real?

Witchcraft and witches have long been topics of folklore, myth, and historical narratives. Various beliefs and practices about witchcraft have emerged across diverse cultures and eras. While we believe in witches’ reality and magical abilities, others dismiss them as mere superstition or fiction. So, are witches real?

It’s important to recognize that witchcraft and witches are misinterpreted in mainstream culture.

*This post may contain Amazon and other affiliate links. You can read the disclosure here.*

Witchcraft is Fascinating

Witches have always been intriguing and their allure remains strong even today.

In contemporary society, the idea of a witch has transformed from the classic depiction of a warty old woman brewing potions. Nowadays, witches are frequently linked to feminism, spirituality, and the celebration of their inner strength.

Modern-day witches engage in various witchcraft practices, including Wicca and neopaganism. These practitioners frequently establish a connection with nature, channel the energy of the elements, and conduct rituals to achieve their intentions.

Additionally, many delve into divination like tarot reading or pendulums to gain deeper insights into their lives.

Witchcraft has become a way to reclaim autonomy and challenge societal norms. Modern witches embrace individuality, self-care, and personal growth.

While some still adhere to ancient traditions, others create unique practices, drawing inspiration from diverse cultural and spiritual sources.

So, whether you’re drawn to the mystical or simply curious about the modern witch, exploring the world of witchcraft can be a fascinating journey of self-discovery and empowerment.

Magic is Spiritual

For many, being a witch is not just about casting spells or brewing potions, but about embracing a holistic lifestyle that promotes mindfulness, self-discovery, and connection with the world around them.

Spiritual witchcraft is a practice that combines elements of spirituality and witchcraft. It involves connecting with the divine and harnessing natural energies to manifest positive change in one’s life.

In spiritual witchcraft, practitioners often work with various tools and rituals to enhance their spiritual connection and manifest their desires. These tools can include crystals, herbs, candles, and divination tools such as tarot cards or pendulums.

Spiritual witchcraft focuses on personal growth, self-discovery, and spiritual enlightenment. It emphasizes the importance of connecting with one’s intuition and inner wisdom to guide one’s path.

Many spiritual witches also strongly emphasize healing, both for themselves and others. They may incorporate energy healing techniques, such as Reiki, into their practice to promote physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being.

Are Witches Real?

Yes!

Witches can be viewed as symbolic archetypes that embody intuition, defiance of societal norms, and mastery over concealed knowledge. Individuals may resonate with the “witch” archetype to foster personal empowerment, wisdom, or independence.

How Do Crystals Work?

A woman's face holding a glowing quartz crystal to her head. Text overlay - How do healing crystals work?

Crystals develop over millions of years under significant geological pressure, leading to intricately structured lattices. Consequently, these formations provide crystals with distinct physical properties. But how do healing crystals actually work?

*This post may contain Amazon or other affiliate links. If you need to read the full disclosure, go here.*

If crystals can influence physical systems in scientific applications, it’s plausible that they affect biological or energetic systems, even if the mechanism isn’t fully understood.

History of Healing Crystals

Firstly, healing crystals have been used in spiritual and medicinal practices for thousands of years.

Ancient Egyptians adorned themselves with lapis lazuli and turquoise to promote protection and well-being.

Similarly, Ayurvedic and Chinese medicine utilize gemstones to harmonize energies. Across the globe, indigenous cultures have incorporated stones and crystals into their rituals.

History shows us various cultures use crystals for their healing properties. They integrate them into practices like meditation and mindfulness, for enhancing focus and intention.

The lasting presence and broad acceptance suggest a collective acknowledgement of the tangible effects of crystals.

How to use Healing Crystals

By all means, crystals are tangible symbols of intentions, like healing, love, or calmness.

Holding or wearing a crystal can:

  • anchor mindfulness practices
  • hold symbolism
  • are physical reminders
  • is a tool for grounding
  • protect you during energy work

All crystals feel like nature’s gifts but there’s one crystal worth giving a shout out to ~ selenite.

Selenite remains in high vibe all the time. It cleanses other crystals and is self-cleansing!

Put selenite in your space and it will wash away any stagnant energy. Selenite creates a positive atmosphere for your healing or practice spaces.

If your other crystals are arranged nearby, they’ll soak in selenite’s cleansing vibrations.

Crystals & the Human Body

Did you know our bodies are similar to quartz? Every cell in your body has a geometric crystalline structure!

A vibrational property of quartz called piezoelectricity is found in the human body. So, even we can discharge electric pulses and interact with an energy field.

When compressed, quartz crystals generate an electrical charge. This property is used in watches and electronic devices, because they can withstand high temperatures and conduct energy.

Quartz can convert mechanical energy into electricity with force. It’s used in timekeeping, broadcasting, computer engineering, and sound healing.

Millions claim to experience genuine benefits from using crystals. Although personal anecdotes are not scientific evidence, similar experiences cannot be disregarded.

How do Crystals Work?

Crystals function by directing positive energy into the body while eliminating negative energy. This process resembles other alternative therapies that balance energy levels.

Essentially, each crystal has a distinct vibrational frequency, influenced by its molecular structure. These vibrations engage with the body’s energy field, or chakras, giving physical, mental, and emotional wellness.

Truly, just like electromagnetic waves and quantum mechanics seemed mysterious before their discovery, some think crystals’ effects could stem from phenomena we don’t fully understand.

Maybe someday quantum entanglement or vibrational theories could explain how energy and intention interact with crystals.

Healing Crystals Work!

Although science can’t validate that crystals possess inherent healing abilities, their physical characteristics, cultural importance, psychological effects, and interactions with energy fields create a strong argument.

However, even skeptics acknowledge that if crystals inspire well-being and positive change, their impact is undeniably real to those who experience it.

Why I Love Tarot

Tarot card reading is highly in demand amongst the spiritual community. It is a form of divination that muggles view as hocus pocus. However, those who live a magical life know how real and useful it is. Here are all the reasons why I love tarot.

*This post may contain Amazon and other affiliate links. If needed, you can read the disclosure here.*

Tarot Card Readings

Notably, tarot readings are known for fortunetelling. People who aren’t spiritually informed call these readings fantasy.

If you’ve never had a tarot card reading, I suggest you try it. Every non-believer I know enjoyed it.

As a matter of fact, I’ve introduced many to the YouTube world of tarot. Please, try it out for yourself. On YouTube, search for your zodiac sign + tarot card reading.

Give it a try out of sheer curiosity!

Tarot readings have fascinated people for centuries. Their popularity continues in the modern era for great reasons.

When seeking personal guidance and insight into challenging situations tarot readings can give perspective or reassurance about the paths available.

Humans have an innate desire to know what the future holds. Tarot offers a way to explore the future despite the understanding that psychic predictions are not concrete.

It’s fun to connect with a community that shares spiritual exploration. Many people enjoy this experience with friends.

Essentially, tarot cards provide a unique blend of art, tradition, guidance, and introspection.

About Tarot Cards

There are 78 cards in a traditional tarot deck, each with a different spiritual energy.

Each card in the deck holds symbolic meaning and represents different aspects of life and emotions. Practicioners select and interpret the cards through guidance and clarity.

The history of tarot cards is rich and complex. They likely originated in the 15th century in Europe, specifically in Italy. Initially, tarot cards were used for playing a game called tarocchi and not for divination purposes.

Of the 78 cards, they are divided into the Major Arcana and Minor Arcana, with the former containing 22 trump cards and the latter divided into four suits.

Over time, tarot cards began to be associated with mystical and esoteric traditions, shifting toward their use in divination and fortune-telling by the 18th century. They have since become an integral part of various metaphysical practices and are often used for personal insight and guidance.

Not every reading will resonate with everyone. Undeniably, you will know if that reading is for you or not. It will be something you feel.

Surprisingly, a card reading isn’t just about predicting the future. It’s a spiritual experience where you get relevant guidance.

It is important to note that tarot card reading is a personal and intuitive practice. The interpretation of the cards does vary from person to person.

Tarot can help you explore the subconscious mind, spiritual growth, and connection with the divine.

Use it for personal insight or help others in their spiritual practice. Tarot reading is a powerful and transformative tool. And it’s fun.

Tarot Magic

One of the reasons why I love tarot is because it is so versatile.

You don’t need to be a tarot reader or know how to interpret the cards to use them in energy work or witchcraft. Simply placing a card on your altar or sacred space will channel the energy you’re looking for.

Create your tarot spell by choosing a card that best supports your intention. You can go by the card’s meaning or pick the one you’re guided to.

You can use it in a fire spell and burn a copy of the card.

Tarot magic combines the mystical power of tarot cards with the practice of magic. It taps into the ancient wisdom and energy of the tarot to manifest desires, gain insight, and connect with higher realms of consciousness.

Tarot magic is often used in spellwork, ceremonial practices, and meditation.

Ultimately, tarot magic helps you with self-reflection, problem-solving, and decision-making.

I Love Tarot

Essentially, I love tarot because it’s magical. Tarot magic brings positive changes and empowers me on my spiritual journey.

Ultimately divination is a kind of magic. This is because you’re using a magical tool to find answers from paranormal sources. Almost all witches use tarot or some form of divination daily.

Integrate Your Mind, Body, and Spirit

Tarot readings can contribute to overall well-being by aligning mental, emotional, and spiritual aspects.

Empowerment

Ultimately, tarot is a tool for empowerment, guiding you to take charge of your life and make purposeful decisions.

There are many ways to do tarot readings. Sometimes other tools are used to clarify the cards. Like, charms, tea leaves, or runes.

You also don’t have to be surrounded by mystical things to have or do a tarot reading.

When deciding if tarot is right for you remember that it’s both nondenominational and multi-denominational. This means it’s open to people of any religious belief. It can develop your understanding of your spiritual path and give you spiritual insight.

What do you think about tarot? Do you love it too?

The Power of Rainbows

Who doesn’t enjoy the magical sight of a rainbow? They are a solid reminder that there is more than meets the eye. A rainbow offers a glimpse into higher levels of love and light and is a holistic healing treatment. This post explains the power of rainbows.

*This post may contain Amazon and other affiliate links. If guided, read all about it in the disclaimer.*

Rainbow Power

Did you know colors can shift and influence our emotions? They indeed bring the body into balance by removing blocks and healing physical pain!

Whether you need cooling work or more warming tones, color therapy is like your personal photo edit tool.

Color therapy is also known as chromotherapy. Each color has varying wavelengths that have a unique effect on the body.

How to use the Power of Rainbows

It’s up to you how you use color therapy and can’t do it wrong.

Just surround yourself with the color you want to use.

  • wear the color
  • eat or drink the color
  • make your bedding that color
  • change your curtains to that color
  • hang up a tapestry or a picture of that color
  • paint a room or accent wall that color
  • use that color for an altar cloth or in your sacred space
  • use that color light bulb in a lamp and soak in it

Facts About Rainbows

There are seven traditionally recognized colors of the rainbow. They are red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet. This happens because light colors bend differently when they pass through water droplets. Red bends the least and violet the most.

These colors appear in a specific order from the outer edge to the inner edge. This spreading of colors creates a beautiful rainbow in the sky when conditions are right.

We see rainbows as semicircles, but they are full circles. We only see the top half because the bottom part is blocked by the horizon or the ground. If you’re high above the ground you can see the full circular rainbow.

Sometimes you can notice a fainter, double rainbow above the main one. This secondary rainbow occurs when light reflects twice inside a raindrop. The colors of the secondary rainbow are reversed, with red on the bottom and violet on the top.

This optical phenomenon occurs because the secondary rainbow is produced by a different, more complex light path.

What you need for Rainbow Therapy

Use Healing Crystals of that color.

Find healing crystal stones with the color you need. You can place it physically anywhere on your body or in your pocket.

Keep them under your pillow or on your nightstand.

Use your hands and a Beam of Color

Rub your hands together to get your hand chakras warmed up. Close your eyes and place your hands over the place you’re treating. Imagine the beam of color hitting the spot that hurts.

Or just place your hands on the spots and feel the energy of that color being transmitted.

A Shield of Color

You can close your eyes and call upon a shield of color protection. Simply imagine that color surrounding you like a bubble.

Spiritual Rainbow Therapy

Wall lamp in a vertical design of a rainbow.

Rainbows can help transcend the physical to a spiritual experience.

This is because they are refracted prisms of light called rays. These rainbow colors contain the life force of our supreme creator.

Therefore, they contain all virtues, qualities, and aspects of creation.

Use them to infuse all the potential needed to co-create your best life!

The Power of Rainbows

Essentially, having color around you is great for support and balance.
